AI CV screening software that shows its working
HireSieve scores CVs against a rubric built from your job advert, quotes the CV line behind every score, and leaves every decision to a person.
HireSieve is CV screening software for UK hiring teams in which every score quotes the line of the CV that earned it. A language model reads each CV and extracts facts with quotes; ordinary code does all the arithmetic; and a person makes every decision. Nothing is rejected automatically.
How it scores a CV
1. A rubric from your job advert
You start with the advert. HireSieve turns it into a rubric of requirements and weights, and the weights must add up to 100. Change one weight and the others rebalance. Essential requirements are marked as such. Our guide to essential and desirable criteria helps you write them.
2. Facts and quotes, not opinions
For each requirement, the model returns what the CV says and the exact line it found it in. It does not produce the number.
3. Arithmetic in code
A scoring engine written in Python turns those facts into scores. It is the only place in the product where a number is created, which means the same facts always give the same score.
4. A person decides
If a CV fails an essential requirement, it is labelled "not eligible". That label is a flag a person can overrule; the candidate stays in the list with their full record.
What it refuses to measure
HireSieve publishes a list of things it will not score:
- whether a CV was written with AI
- spelling and grammar
- name, school, photo or social media
- career gaps and part-time work
- CV length and how plausible a job title sounds
Our post on why AI detectors cannot judge a CV explains the first item.
Built-in safeguards
- Preview before spending. It shows how many CVs, which folder, which advert and the cost before it runs, and asks again over 80 CVs.
- Undo. Every batch can be undone. CV files are never deleted.
- Document checks. It flags things like hidden text inside a CV.
- Retention. A 12-month retention sweep, plus draft data protection paperwork (DPIA, legitimate interests assessment, record of processing and candidate notices).
- Roles. Owner, admin, member and viewer, with teammates joining by invite.

How it compares
Many recruitment platforms rank candidates and some can advance or reject them on an AI score. HireSieve does screening only, works from a folder of CVs or forwarded emails, and shows the evidence behind every number. Our checklist of five tests before you pay for CV screening software applies to any tool, including this one.
